Steady, light to moderate rain lifts northeast and out of our neck-of-the-woods by lunchtime Thursday. Skies clear with a partly to mostly sunny afternoon on tap throughout northern New York and western Vermont. Here, temps jump into the mid and upper 80s with a south wind of 5-15 mph, lighter than the last few days. From the Green Mountains east into the Northeast Kingdom, Upper Valley and New Hampshire, clouds are more stubborn with a handful of showers or an isolated storm sticking around into the afternoon. Low 80s here. Tonight, everyone clears as the mercury dips into the 60s by daybreak Friday.

Look for morning sunshine, then increasing clouds tomorrow with scattered showers and thunderstorms by late morning into the afternoon as a second frontal boundary approaches from the west. A few storms may be strong to marginally severe. Low to mid 80s. Any convection we do find should die off by sunset.

The weekend brings a lot of positives for us. It'll be drier, less humid, cooler and sunnier. Saturday sees a mix of sun and clouds with just a small chance for a few late day showers or sprinkles. Low 80s. Sunday, mostly sunny and dry. Upper 70s. Wet weather and muggy air returns early to middle of next week.
